Cooper city is a medium sized city in Broward County, Florida. It has six neighborhoods and is the 100th largest community in the state. It is part of the South Florida Metropolitan Area and bordering communities include, but are not limited to Davie to the north and east, Pembroke Pines to the south and Southwest Ranches to the West. The city is considered a municipal corporation  and has a commissioner/manager style of city government. Cooper City has one sister city, Killarney, Ireland. Nearly 42% of all adult in the city have a four-year degree or higher. It is semi-ethnically diverse with common ancestries between residents being Italian, German, Irish, English, Polish and others. Nearly 23% of all residents are foreign born and though English is the primary language several residents also speak Spanish.

Cooper City was founded by Morris Cooper in 1959 and incorporated the same year. The community was created by an act of state legislature. During its early years, there were no bridges across the Intercoastal Waterway so those headed for the beach had to take rowboats across to the beach. Griffin Road and Stirling Road were both paved during the 1960s and by 1969, the community had a five man police force. Cooper city relied on a volunteer fire department up until 1986. The community has earned a top ten towns for families ranking from Family Circle magazine and today the average value of a home is $300,000.

The city spans 8.3 square miles, eight square miles of land area and .3 square miles of water. It  is a wealthy community  in comparison to state and federal economic statistics. It is decidedly white-collar with over 90% of the local workforce holding white collar positions. Over 7.25 % of the workforce works from home via telecommuting or small businesses. In 2000, the median household income was $75,166, the median family income was $78,172 and the per capita income was $27,474. By 2010, the population was 28,547, the population density was 3,551 people per square mile and the per capita income was $37.680. In 2013, the median household income was $87,622 and the per capita income was $36,697. In the same year the mean housing price on all housing units in Cooper City was $234,961 and the median gross rent was $1,729. In 2014, the population was 34,923 and the population density was 5,503 people per square mile. These figures all combine to reveal growth both in terms of local economics but population expansion as well.

Public education in the city is provided by the schools of the Broward County Public School District. Cooper City has 21 neighborhood parks and two sports complexes. The parks include amenities like open green spaces, benches, playgrounds, trails, sports courts and fields and so much more.
