Weston, Florida is a medium sized suburban city in Broward County. It has about nine neighborhoods  and is the 38th largest community in the state.  It is bordered by the Everglades on portions of its west and north borders. The city has good schools, low crime rates and high rates of home-ownership. Nearly 58% of adults in Weston have four-year degrees or higher. It is a semi-ethnically diverse community where nearly 40% of all residents are foreign born. English is the primary language of residents followed by Spanish.  Commuting is common and an average commute time for residents is about 31 minutes. The city has a commissioner/manager style of city government.

The history of Weston is short, as it was only established as a city in 1996. The community was primarily developed by Avida/JMB Realty. In 2006, Business Week named Weston as one of the “best affordable suburbs” in the country. Next in 2008, Money Magazine ranked it as the 73rd best place to live in the United States. Then, in 2010, it was ranked #19 on  Money Magazines “America’s Biggest Earners” list. In 2012, the city was given  the #62 slot on the “best places to live  in the USA” list. In 2015, Family Circle placed Weston among “The Top Ten Towns for Families” and finally, In February of 2016, Neighborhoodscout ranked the city at #11 on their “Top 100 safest cities in the U.S.” list.

The city spans 26.3 square miles, 25.2 square miles of land area and 1.2 square miles of water. It is a wealthy when compared to state and national economic statistics. It is a predominantly white-collar community where 93% of the workforce hold/work white-collar positions or professions. Over 9% of the local workforce works from home of these the majority work via telecommuting where as others work in home-based businesses. In 2010, the population of Weston was 65,333, the population density was 2,597 people per square mile and the per capita income was $40,452. By 2013, the median household income was $91,844 and the estimated per capita income was $42,271. In the same year, the median house or condo value in the city was $384,700, the mean housing price on all units was $234,961 and the median gross rent was $1,780. In 2014, the population had risen to 69,100 and the  population density was 2,908 people per square mile. All of these figures speak to steady growth both economically and in terms of population for the city.

Public education is provided by the excellent Broward County Public School District. The city has nine public schools, six elementary schools, two middle schools and one high school. The city also has two private schools, Sagemont School and Weston Christian Academy. It is home to the Weston Town Center, a shopping  center, which is home to salons, boutiques, eateries and more. There are fourteen municipal parks and facilities with amenities like playgrounds, walking/biking paths, sports courts and fields.
